Kim Burch Krummert | Executive Director/Equine Specialist in Mental Health & Learning
Kim is the mother of two sons, Micah and Jacob. She is a graduate of Liberty University and holds a Master of Arts in Human Services Counseling with a Specialization in Marriage & Family. Kim is also a former employee with the Georgia Department of Family & Children Services (DFCS) where she worked both in Foster Care and Resource Development training & certifying future foster parents for Houston County. She is a certified Life Coach with the Georgia Department of Human Services and works with children and youth in both DFCS and the Department of Juvenile Justice (DJJ). In addition, she has spent many years working with horses by using Natural Horsemanship methods and is certified with the Professional Association of Therapeutic Horsemanship (PATH), International as an Equine Specialist in Mental Health & Learning (ESMHL). Kim is from Marietta, GA, but is currently living in Cleveland, TN working on the development of 30 acres that was donated through Perry Stone’s Ministry, Voice of Evangelism.
Kelli Harvill | Executive Assistant/Equine Specialist in Mental Health & Learning
Kelli is from Warner Robins, Ga, and is retired from Federal Civil Service. She attended Georgia Southwestern State University majoring in Business Administration. She and her husband, Don Harvill, live in Canton, GA. They have one adult son, Christopher. Having always been a horse lover, she has been working with horses for the past 9 years using natural horsemanship training and has two of her own. She is certified through the Professional Association of Therapeutic Horsemanship, International (PATH) as an Equine Specialist in Mental Health and Learning (ESMHL). Kelli is a Spurs of Hope mentor working with children and youth in the Department of Family and Children Services. In addition to her hands on experience with horses and children, Kelli is vital to the entire operation of Spurs of Hope.
Sierra Reaves | Mentor & Equine Specialist
Sierra Reaves is a lifelong resident of Lizella, Georgia, just outside of Macon. She is the oldest of 5 siblings and has served at various camps for children over the past several years. Her passion for underprivileged children has led her to overseas missions and inner city ministry by helping children and families who are facing life challenges. In June 2015, Sierra received her certification from Natural Lifemanship where she studied Horse Psychology and Physiology to address trauma experienced by children and adults. She is currently pursuing a Bachelor’s Degree in Psychology with a minor in Sports Management from Liberty University. Sierra enjoys working with youth and at-risk children, especially combining a ministry mindset with the great outdoors.
Aaliyah Zapata | Empowerment Coach | Marietta Location
Growing up, Aaliya was a dreamer at heart. She also expressed a passion for outreach initiatives and serving those in and outside of her local community. In 2013, Aaliyah and her family moved to Houston, Texas where she was afforded the opportunity to serve in numerous positions in her local community, including assisting in establishing a church in a neighboring community. There she served as an Advisor and Worship Leader. In 2016, she landed in Dallas, GA, where she now resides with her husband Jonathan and two beautiful daughters, Adelynn and Keilani. Aaliya dreams of creating a massive safe-haven for any and everyone. Her passion to serve others continues today and has been instrumental in her position as Director of the Mariettta Freedom Reins program. She holds a B.S. in Healthcare Administration and is a firm believer that God can do “infinitely more than we ask or think.” Despite environment or circumstances, Aaliyah encourages people everywhere to Keep Dreaming!
Amber Poole | Empowerment Coach | Spurs of Hope Forsyth Location
Amber Poole is a Master Cosmetologist who enjoys making others feel beautiful on the inside and out. She has two children, Brenden and Chloe, whom she homeschools. Amber is also a teacher in the Children’s ministry at her local church in Warner Robins, GA. She is the Empowerment Coach for Freedom Reins at the Spurs of Hope Forsyth location where she teaches the youth and manages the program. Amber is also certified with the Professional Association of Therapeutic Horsemanship, International as an Equine Specialist in Mental Health & Learning. Amber also receives her own therapy from Zane—her personal horse!
Susan Jung- M.Ed. Ed.S. | Licensed Professional Counselor
Susan earned her B.A. in Psychology and M.Ed. and Ed.S in Counseling from the University of Florida. She is a Licensed Professional Counselor and Certified Professional Counselor Supervisor in the state of Georgia.As an elementary school counselor for 37 years, her work with children has been the focal part of her life. Since first finding Equine Assisted Growth And Learning Association (EAGALA) in 2000, Susan has become increasingly convinced that horses are truly a pathway to mental health and wellness. It is Susan’s belief that including the equine co-facitator in therapy and learning sessions is effective, real, efficient, and provides for life-long learning. She serves as the mental health professional on the Spurs of Hope team.
Sonya Lawson | Lead Mentor- Spurs of Hope Forsyth Location
Sonya currently lives in Byron, GA and is the mother of three daughters and one son. Three are adopted and for 10 years she was also a Certified Therapeutic Foster Parent. Her love for horses began at a very young age. She took riding lessons and when she was older, participated in horse shows and rodeos. She also had the wonderful experience to work for an Arabian Show Horse Farm as an assistant trainer.
Sonya is certified through the Professional Association of Therapeutic Horsemanship (PATH) as an Equine Specialist in Mental Health and Learning (ESMHL). In addition to serving as mentor for Spurs of Hope, she has also worked with children on the autism spectrum.
